Program Structure

Different Student Levels

Level 1: Correspondent

We focus our attention on building skills to improve communication (digital and traditional) so that the individual projects on which students work make the greatest impact. Model United Nations Conference experience required.

Age Group: 10-12

Level 2: Senior Correspondent

Our focus broadens as students dive deeply into technical and digital skills, obtaining tools that will help them excel in the future (and which will help make them more attractive candidates for college applications.) By engaging with diplomatic and communications, they leverage real working environments in international relations,Age Group: 13-18

Student Projects Drive Change

Academy students have a front row seat as UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s_ progress through the high level political forums of the UN.

Students will meet with UN mission staff, UN experts and professionals to hear about national plans and progress being made towards key global objectives. Students will be introduced to the UN High Level Political Forum’s latest activities and learn of progress being made on the Sustainable Development Goals, helping address the eradication of poverty, as they are implemented in 31 countries.

Students will explore the real diplomatic and professional activities of the UN at an international level – learning the specific challenges individual countries face and the momentum around global UN priorities. Students are asked to focus their own Academy projects around these SDG’s and specific countries’ progress. Such projects can also link to local level priorities and leverage theUnReporter newswire to trigger discussion and help build momentum around these key topics.
